“Coding in the browser” – the future of web developing

Today I came cross a blog post The Future Of Firefox Devtools by Paul Rouget who works at  Mozilla, and when I read the following two lines:

Coding in the browser

and

Authoring in the browser

I said to myself: Heck! This is exactly the idea of LIVEditor – the code editor project I’m working!

When a text/code editor is embedded into a web browser, which allows you edit what you see in the browser directly, or to put it in other words, when a text/code editor has an embedded web browser to show your html/css/js changes in real-time, it’ll be so much easier to write Webpages or web apps.

I didn’t/do find any tool like what I’m describing there yet, that’s one of what are keeping me working on this project 🙂

    I came to know your LIVEditor from a user’s comment in ZDnet, i liked your story and the concept, and Bret Victor’s Spech, the moment I’m typing this comment, the video is buffering. I see overwhelming comments there, hope it will inspire me too.

    Congrats for your work.

  • @Ragunaath, Thanks!

    @Edwin

    I wish you consider you liveditor on cross platform, don’t leave linux and Mac

    Regards

  • @Ragunaath, initially LIVEditor will not cross-platform, but for Windows only.

    Looks great, if only it was made for a mac too, I’d buy it in a second. Maybe I’ll need a VM to run Windows.
